What's nearby |
| Shopping and Dining: Camogli, a quaint fishing village, is a five minute drive and has some shops, restaurants, ice cream parlors and a small beach. Camogli has one supermarket just 5 minutes away and is open everyday. Recco, just 10 minutes away, has more shops and restaurants, as well as two supermarkets.
Not To Be Missed: In Ruta di Camogli, the charming restaurant Mille e una Notte that features a menu paring its contemporary cuisine with wines and an extensive selection of mineral water.
During the summer months, boats depart from Camogli or Rapallo to the tiny fishing hamlet of San Fruttuoso with an 8th century Benedictine abbey. This romantic cove is accessible only by boat or with a 3 hour hike.
Drive along the western shore to Albisola, 40 minutes away, for their hand crafted ceramics. This area has been producing pottery since the 15th century and has a museum of ceramics, open during the summer in the Villa Faraggiana.
Public Transportation: Bus stop is 100 yards away with service to Santa Margherita, Portofino and Camogli. Recco, within a 10 minute drive, has a train station with service to Genoa, the Cinque Terre and many other towns along Riviera.
Golf: The Rapallo Golf and Tennis Club, open year round, is within a 20 minute drive.
Open Air Markets: Market day is every Wednesday in Camogli, every Monday in Recco, every Thursday in Rapallo and every Friday in Santa Margherita. In Recco, there is an antique market on the third Sunday of each month.
Annual Festivals: Camogli's annual Fish Fry Festival takes place the second weekend in May. Saturday's "Blessing of the Fish" festivities include bonfires and an impressive display of fireworks. On Sunday, the largest frying pan in the world (exceeding 12 feet in diameter) fries up huge helpings of fish. |
