Northern Italy Vacation Rental
While Federico Malaspina led armies, won decisive battles and built this 16th-century tower just 35 minutes south of Verona, Italy's most romantic city, he could never have enjoyed it as much as our guests do today.
Air conditioned throughout, with screens on all windows and furnished in a standard befitting a Veronese lord, this incredibly spacious tower successfully combines history with modern day comfort and style. The property sits at the core of a vast agricultural estate renowned for the advance methods used in their organic dairy operation to ensure quality.
The building is made up of three separate sections: our rental taking up the entire left side including the tower, the estate office and the owner's second home. They also reside in nearby Verona.
Inside, Malaspina's Tower is exquisitely decorated with furniture crafted by local artisans. Guests enjoy the use of four living rooms with one located at the top of the tower with 360 degree views. Each bedroom has its own bathroom with heated towel racks. The idea of having plenty of room to relax continues to the outdoor areas where guests have their own private pool area and surrounding level garden area equipped with a barbecue. Beside the pool is a cottage with a changing room, a minifridge, a full bathroom and a covered seating area for shade.
Cleaning service, dinners and a cooking class may be arranged when booking. The rental conveniently includes the following in the price: summer air conditioning, winter heating, a mid week refresh cleaning and four bicycles.
The friendly owners of Malaspina's Tower offer a complimentary tour of the estate designed to show guests the highlights of their organic production. It includes a visit to the dairy buildings, 60 yards behind the tower, to see the nursery, stables and milking rooms. During the rice growing season, (May to September), they include a ride out to the fields where the rice used for risotto is cultivated; a tasting of their risotto is enjoyed by all. This mid-morning tour is scheduled with the owners upon arrival.
Concamarise, 500 yards away, has shops, a restaurant and a caffè bar. This area, called Basso Veronese, offers castles, prized Vialone Nano rice, Valpolicella and Soave wines and produces handcrafted furniture, as seen in this home. Mantova is within a 30 minute drive; Verona: 35; Lake Garda or Ferrara: 60; Vicenza: 70; Padova, Parma or Cremona: 90; Venice or Milan: 120.
